Showing support for National FSC Friday

UK fire and fireplace manufacturer, Be Modern are showing support for National ‘FSC Friday’ in an educational event with local school children, as part of the annual celebration of responsible forestry by the Forest Stewardship Council (FSC).

The organisation will be paying a visit to Houghton Community Nursery School in Houghton Le Spring on Thursday 20th September to help increase awareness of the importance of responsible forest management. As part of the occasion, there will be variety of trees planted in the school grounds with several fun activities for the children to get involved in.

Mark Walton, Be Modern’s National Contracts Manager commented, “We are keen to show our support for FSC Friday and we are excited to be working with local children in an effort to promote the positive impact FSC has on the worlds forests.

Helping to sustain the environment is a fundamental part of Be Modern’s environmental objectives, and using FSC accredited timber for our products means we are able to play a vital role in doing so.”

The event will start at 10am with the tree planting to take place from 10.30am. All family and friends are welcome to attend; but be sure to bring along your wellies as it might get messy!
